The Real Horse Power

Micah HattonLesley Matt knows all about horsepower. But it’s not muscle cars or motorcycles – it’s the real thing. She’s been riding horses since she was six years old. “I got my first horse when I was nine, and started showing competitively when I was ten,” Lesley said.
As the events got bigger and the competition got tougher, Lesley rose to the challenge, winning several regional events in the Dressage arena. “I won a lot of events around Northeast Ohio,” she said. “But my ultimate goal was to make it to the Olympics.” Although things didn’t quite pan out on the Olympics front, her love for the sport hasn’t faded in the least.

While her competitive days may be through, Lesley still finds plenty of time to ride. “I still ride every chance I get because it’s something I love to do,” she said. That’s not to say that Lesley has lost her competitive edge, however. Far from it. As a new Marketing Coordinator at Knotice, Lesley applies the same creativity and focus to our marketing tasks.

Always the consummate equestrian, Lesley plans to eventually give back to the sport that has given her so much. “Ultimately, I’d like to teach kids with disabilities to ride,” Lesley said. “That’s the new riding goal for the future.”

Here is Lesley showing her horse, Twist, in 2007.
