April's Top Digital Marketing Trends

Josh GordonHappy May Day, everyone! First things first, thanks to all the loyal readers for making April 2009 a record month, just in time for the Lunch Pail's one year anniversary this month. It was an exciting April here at Knotice (more on that later), but also in the world of digital marketing trends - many of which were covered here on our humble blog. In case you missed some of our recent posts /conversations, here's a quick recap of the top posts that made April so interesting.

First, there is an interesting conversation beginning over here about how Twitter is being used in the world of research. Some highly respected research analysts have begun to incorporate their search findings from social media to combat or support certain quantitative findings. So, can we believe everything we read on Twitter? Can we gauge brand enthusiasm with any level of accuracy? Join the discussion here.

The top post on the blog continues to be Casey’s recent post about the Verizon-Alltel merger. But, a discussion of the top email marketing trends for 2009 is gaining on her post. The big trend takeaway in email is still the need to incorporate relevance, and how there is quantifiable evidence in market about how good relevance in email marketing practices does lead to improved ROI. These kinds of numbers help to leap the various barriers to relevance and further encourage the development of more advanced segmentation strategies.

Lesley also contributed an interesting post entitled “Who Is Shopping At The Digital Mall.” She reveals that demographic trends many assume may not be that accurate. For example, 18-24 year olds are online, but they spend very little time shopping. It’s the older demographic that does the most shopping. Read the entire post here – it’s an interesting read.

Last is Chris’ post (parts 1 and 2) that lay out the basics of the Scrum process, and how Knotice uses it. It’s some interesting insight into the day-to-day development operations of Knotice, for those of you that are interested.

Don’t forget to join the conversation, and follow Knotice on Twitter. We’re going to be doing some really fun things with our Twitter feed soon – you won’t want to miss out!
